O Canada! Lake O'Hara/Yoho National Park, 8.6.19.- 8.9.19, Part 7 of 8
Arriving at Lake MacArthur there were numerous little nooks and crannies to go. We Found a nice rock knoll looking out over the lake to eat our lunch. The sun wasn’t in the greatest position for photos so we decided to kill three or four more hours to let it move through the sky more to the west. First we wandered over to some rocks overlooking a cove that was the deepest blue I have ever seen. Not even Crater Lake has the color this water had. It was just indescribable.
I love this next shot of Mike and Sandy contemplating the lake. This photo is not doctored up. That is what the water actually looks like in this amazing lake!
There is no outlet to Lake MacArthur but we wandered the shoreline until we found a sketchy trail heading up above the shoreline. Bridgit wanted to just hang by the lake with her toes in the water so we started up the shore trail. Several spots were a bit dicey with nothing to stop you from tumbling all the way into the lake but we persevered and went about halfway up the lake to a rocky point sticking out into the water.
At the end of the lake, Mt. Biddle looked impressive rising above the blue blue waters of Lake MacArthur. The Biddle glacier was really cool looking with a huge ice cave that had opened near the base of the glacier. I wondered how deep the ice cave was.
By the time we made it to the point my wife was buck naked and diving into Lake MacArthur for a quick chilly dip. Can’t keep that girl out of the water! The light was getting much better as the hours drifted by and on the way back the sun had lit up the face of Mt. Biddle.
We had a quiet hike back to our campsites. This was our last full day and we were just blown away by all the beauty we had seen. Our bus would be leaving the next morning at 11:30AM. None of us wanted to go.
Part 8 is right around the corner.
